I wake up with the knowledge that I will go through my day wearing one (or many) of my titles. Woman, wife, daughter, sister, friend, employee, manager, servant, Third Wave-feminist and writer. It can be tiring.
In fact, I have yet to meet a woman whom did not use the word tired in a sentence when describing a moment in time.
I was born a Woman; the other titles were acquisitions. Ironically, being a capital “W” woman tends to take a back seat to all of the titles. It is in those moments, I become the multi-tasking hamster. If you don’t understand this statement, you are not a woman (or you can contact me and I will explain it to you).
This week’s Mixtape is my dedication to all capital “W” women. Admittedly, some of the songs are cliché. As I type, I am listening to Gloria Gaynor and cringing. I wanted it to be included because as a Gen-Xer it is “required” listening. Other songs I selected because I wanted the artist to be included.
